I'm embarrassed to say, I hadn't heard of Matu until a few days ago when I was invited there for dinner. Located in Beverly Hills off S Beverly Dr, there's meter parking or parking lots (close one is next to Beverly Hills newsstand). When you walk in, there's a host stand and a full bar behind it and tables to the left. We had six in our party, but most tables around us had 2-4 people which may be easier to converse over the chatter of other tables. They have tasting prefixed tasting menus but we decided to try a la carte and share to sample everything. We were happy with our orders. The Fazzoletti with braised beef ragu and parmigiano (not in photos) is definitely worth ordering. The slow cooked beef sauce and buttery pasta was so tasty, i wish we ordered 2 for the table. The grass fed wagyu streaks were so tender and flavorful. Highly recommend for anyone that wants good quality and tasting wagyu beef

I went for DineLA but found that they have their set menus all the time. For this first trip we chose the DineLA option: Ribeye Dinner for 2 - $74 pp (4 courses). The courses were: 24-Hour Bone Broth, Steak Tartare, Japanese accent Picanha Skewers, tahini sauce and zhoug, then 13 oz Ribeye and Japanese Caesar to share. The bone broth was aromatic and comforting. A nice way to start the meal. The tartar as flavorful and lightly tangy. I do wish they had given a few more pieces of bread versus just 2. The skewers were simple and nicely cooked. Finally the ribeye was luscious, flavorful, and light. The ambiance was peaceful and tasteful and the service was very attentive and friendly. Since parking around there can be difficult they do have valet which we used. All in all I think I'll be back to perhaps try another of their Dinner sets or the famed cheesesteak lunch special.

Came here for their Dine LA menu and had a great experience! Yuzu Cocktail (4/5): very strong yuzu flavor. Gimlet (3/5): average, a little too sour. Ribeye Dinner for Two (4/5): overall the meal was delicious and the quality of the meat was superb. However we both felt the portion of ribeye was too small for two people to share considering the price point of $74/person. Bone broth, beef tartare, skewers and Japanese Caesar salad were all tasty. Overall I had a delicious meal and would come back the next time I'm craving steak.

Had a lovely dinner at Matu in Beverly Hills! The ambience is nice and the staff was really friendly, I went there for special occasion and it was a good time. My only caveat is the tables are really close together and it got really loud. We did the tasting menu for 2 and it was incredible! I don't typically like beef tartar but this one was really good. I thought the portion sizes were also pretty good. The star is the quality! The quality of the meat was amazing. All the meat was cooked really well and melted in your mouth. we also got a side of fries which were a little disappointing and not worth the price. Highlights from the tasting menu was everything. Even the bone broth was delicious. I loved the filet and my partner liked the beef cheek. I had to add some salt to a lot of the meat, which I recommend. I like that they don't over salt it but you need the salt for it to taste less bland.
